OnMareData: monitoring mare behaviour during pregnancy and parturition

Start25 May 2021
End31 January 2021

Description →

Monitoring for tracking and predicting foaling is one of the major achievements of CENRE Yeguada Cartuja in the digital transformation of the equine sector, with the award of the European Union innovation project OnMareData, a project for the digitalised monitoring of the behaviour of pregnant mares, along with its subsequent modelling through data analysis and algorithm development, giving stockbreeders access to an easy-to-use tool that allows them to anticipate problems during pregnancy or at the time of foaling that could result in the loss of the foal. The project has required the installation of surveillance cameras in the mare barn for the correct labelling and tracking of data obtained through sensors.

An innovation project carried out in collaboration with DigitAnimal and the Higher Technical School of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering of the University of Córdoba, to fine-tune the technology and model the moment of foaling.
